Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is more than just a martial art. It's a lifestyle and a journey that challenges you physically and mentally, offering numerous benefits:
Personal instruction can be scary, as we are aware.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling, ground fighting, and submission holds. It’s designed to allow smaller individuals to defend themselves against larger opponents by using leverage and technique. BJJ is also an excellent way to improve fitness, discipline, and self-defense skills.
No prior experience is required! SJJA Sydney offers beginner-friendly classes that teach the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our instructors will guide you step by step, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident as you learn.
For your first class, you should wear comfortable workout clothes (like a t-shirt and shorts). If you’re trying out a Gi class, we can provide a Gi (the traditional BJJ uniform) for you to borrow. Don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated!
We recommend starting with 2-3 classes per week to allow your body to adjust and give you time to absorb the techniques. As you progress, you can increase the frequency of your training based on your goals and availability.
Absolutely! SJJA offers dedicated kids’ classes that are fun, safe, and focused on building confidence, discipline, and coordination. Children as young as four can start learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a supportive environment.
Yes, we have women’s-only classes as part of our schedule. These sessions provide a comfortable environment for women to train, build self-defense skills, and connect with other female practitioners.
We offer kids’ classes for children aged 4-15, with programs tailored to different age groups. Younger kids focus on basic skills and discipline, while older kids and teens learn more advanced techniques and teamwork.
Yes, we offer private one-on-one training sessions. These lessons are customized to fit your specific goals, whether you're looking to refine your techniques, boost your fitness, or prepare for competition.
We can handle it, don't worry! By discussing your objectives, we can choose the best training program and trainer for you.
